The best hiking routes on Mount Agung. This is a challenging hike that begins near Besakih Temple, the holiest temple, also known as the Mother Temple of Bali. Climb through the dense jungle of Besakih.
The climb takes approximately 5-7 hours and ends at the highest point of the mountain at 3,142 meters above sea level. The last hour or so is extremely grueling, often requiring you to climb on all fours. Ideally, start your trek to Mount Agung around 11pm, and reach the top before dawn to await sunrise. You can see the breathtaking sunrise from here.
